Campus Overview

Our chapel, also housed in the former convent, is a serene and beautiful space where students can pray, reflect, and find peace. This small yet tranquil setting offers a sacred environment for quiet moments of contemplation. The chapel features stunning stained glass windows and the Stations of the Cross provide a meaningful focal point for spiritual reflection. It is also where some of our Religion classes are taught, allowing students to deepen their faith in an intimate and prayerful atmosphere. With its peaceful ambiance, the chapel is a cherished space for our school community to connect with God and each other.

Located within our school library, the Hoff Technology Center is a hub for innovation and learning. This modern space is dedicated to technology classes and collaborative work, providing students with the tools and resources to explore digital literacy, cyber civics, coding, and multimedia projects. Whether used for individual study, group work or the Coding Club, the Hoff Technology Center serves as an ideal environment for fostering creativity and tech skills. It is named in memory of Mary Catherine and George Hoff, grandparents of two St. Peter School alumni.

Our music classroom, also located in our former convent, is a fun space where students of all ages explore the joys of music. From music and movement sessions for our youngest learners to choir singing, the room fosters creativity and expression. Students also have the opportunity to learn instruments such as the recorder and ukulele, developing both musical skills and a love for performance. After-school piano lessons provide additional opportunities for individual growth and mastery. With its warm atmosphere, the music classroom is a place where students connect with the art of music, building confidence and creativity in a variety of ways.

The O’Connell Playground is our vibrant, all-weather turf field. During recess, gym class and after school, students enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, from intense games of dodgeball and soccer to free play--and even classes on prime weather days. A memorial to Ann T. and William J. O’Connell, whose grandsons attended St. Peter’s, the O'Connell Playground is the perfect setting for students to stay active, build teamwork, and have fun in a safe, open environment. 

The STEM Center at St. Peter School is located in the renovated former convent, providing a dedicated space for grade 5-8 students to explore, build, and learn. The modernized Science Lab and Classroom offer an environment where young scientists engage in hands-on experiments, collaborate on projects, and develop critical thinking skills. This dynamic learning space supports the school's commitment to fostering curiosity and innovation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The late Ted Hoff, a past SPS parent, faithfully and joyfully served the school, parish, and the CYO basketball program for many years. On September 28th, 2024, we celebrated the dedication of the Ted Hoff Court at St. Peter School, honoring this beloved member of our community. “The Ted” serves as a versatile gathering space for students, staff, and families. The venue for gym classes and special events, it transforms into an indoor playground for recess on rainy days. This multi-purpose court is also home to our CYO basketball teams, who practice, hone their skills, and compete in games here. Throughout the year the Ted Hoff Court is a central part of life at Saint Peter School.

Our Young Learners Play Yard provides a spacious and inviting environment for our youngest students to enjoy during both their morning and lunch recesses. The ample space allows them to run, play, and explore freely. With play structures to climb on and navigate, children can engage in active physical play, promoting both gross motor skills and social interaction. It’s a wonderful outdoor area where our little learners can release their energy, engage in imaginative play, and foster a sense of independence and community. This vibrant play yard is a true highlight of our urban school, offering a much-needed natural space for kids to connect with each other and enjoy active play.

Our official WeatherBug station, located on top of the main school building, provides real-time weather data for our campus in Cambridge. As a designated WeatherBug location, St. Peter School offers minute-by-minute updates on weather conditions, accessible through the WeatherBug app. This valuable resource is often used in our Science classes, where students gain firsthand experience with data collection and analysis, helping them understand the critical role data plays in the scientific world. The WeatherBug station not only keeps our school community informed about local weather but also enhances our students' learning, fostering an interest in science and data-driven inquiry.
